Omer Elsiddig is a Sharjah-raised and based designer and researcher. His practice revolves around alternative mapping methods as a way to read the city, tracing shifting identities in Sharjah’s built environment. He approaches the city as an archive, examining how everyday markers such as rental posters, prayer rooms, and minarets are infused with stories of movement and impermanence. His projects often foreground voices and perspectives of overlooked communities, offering new ways of seeing how people inhabit and interpret urban space.

Beyond independent research, Elsiddig has worked with regional cultural institutions such as Sharjah Art Foundation and has served as an editorial designer for the American University of Sharjah, engaging in projects that bridge critical inquiry with public engagement. His contributions span from developing visual narratives that communicate complex urban issues to supporting curatorial initiatives that reframe how space and memory are understood in the Gulf.
